I remember when I first started to teach negotiation and contracts information. I didn’t realize how much this information is needed. I look at agreements with a contracts expert eye and can’t help but call out things that look like they would not be favorable. Sometimes that frustrates the people I’m dealing with because as they say “no one else ever says anything about the agreements.”
This why I know there is so much value in what I teach. What are you leaving on the table? What are you agreeing to that could come back to bite you later? Are you giving away your intellectual property? Are you agreeing to give the rights away to others? Are you agreeing to things that you really don’t understand what they mean and hope you won’t get hosed? If you think you don’t need to be a better negotiator, think again (I’ve got a live training in October that will help with that…).
