AAR – After Action Report/Review is something required in the military after completion of a mission to evaluate what worked, what didn’t and what could be done next time to make it better. I do this with myself and/or my team after every event to evaluate how I/we performed. No matter how exhausted from the event, it needs to be done right away to catch a fresh perspective.
I had a booth and a short speaking time at lunch at #UMS2016. I was exhausted as the event went on to the level that I was ineffective at marketing my business and connecting with people. I didn’t achieve the goals I set for sales.
The AAR revealed some of what happened. I was staying with a friend vs at the hotel which was awesome other than I didn’t get any downtime to detach, disconnect and recharge. I’m an introvert where I get my energy and for long events I need down time to recharge my batteries. Downtime means alone time to rest. I stayed up late talking with my friend and catching up. It was awesome but didn’t serve me for what I needed to do.
I need to make sure I have downtime during a long event, especially one where there are a lot of presentations with offers. So what am I doing today? Church online for sure as I need to get that downtime today and can’t be in a big crowd in order to recover before TLN Live, OC BOE Connecting Women to Power and Toastmasters District One Fall Conference.
Use the AAR in your own life and/or business to evaluate, celebrate and make course corrections.
