Mastery Monday – Never Get Ripped Off Again

Stand up for yourself. It takes time to stand up for yourself but in the long run it will make sure you don’t get taken advantage of. You have to push back when they tell you no. No is their first line response and most people go away after the first no. That’s what they want. If it’s not fair and reasonable to you, don’t take no as the final answer.

I had a service I purchased for my business that we couldn’t get to work. We attempted 6 times to make it work and reached out to the support team who on 2 occasions said they were new and didn’t know everything. Instead of finding a way to fix the problem, they kept repeating the same solution.

I finally had enough and asked for a full refund of the 2 months of service I paid. I figured if it took this much to make it work the first time, that was a view of what I would be dealing with in the future. Also you can’t call anyone, you have to send an email to their support team and wait for a response. Not good when business is on the line.

They said sorry it was past the 30 day trial period and they would’t give a refund. It was only a few days past the 30 days. I was charged for the initial month then a second time for the next month.

This is where most people stop. The “rules” say 30 days so that must mean there’s nothing I can do. Rules are Breakable and if you feel something isn’t fair and reasonable push back beyond the rules.

I pushed back and insisted on a refund and asked to have it sent to a manager. I got a refund for 1 month. I asked for 2 months and was ignored. I did a chargeback on my credit card and they agreed to refund the other month.

Don’t take a no as the final answer. It’s only an offer. You can reject that offer and counter with something else. Before you start down this path, you have to know your bottom line. My bottom line was a full refund and I wasn’t taking anything less.

The partial refund was their offer, I countered with another offer that I thought was fair and reasonable based on the situation.

Push back, ask for what you want and get the results that you need. Never get ripped off again!
